A lot of our favorite songs actually bring us down. These songs were written as reminders of who we are, what we are built for, and what becomes possible when we choose to live above the line.
This conscious music was not written for the radio. These songs were written in the middle of building businesses, learning to sing in my thirties, leaving leadership roles I cared about, and finally choosing the thing that I had been running from since the pandemic. The thing that had been burning in me the longest... The Music.
Every song started as a conversation with myself. A reminder. A reflection, a reset. A time when the doubt was loud, and the path forward was not clear. The music is what has kept me above the line and on the path to progress.
If you have ever felt something inside you that has not fully been realized and then released, these songs are for you too!

The music you listen to every day shapes your state, your focus, and how you see yourself. Make sure it is programming you toward the life you actually want.
Most of what we hear pulls us down without us noticing. These songs with a message were written to pull you back above the line.
For the moment right before you do the thing you are afraid of.
I wrote this while I was learning to sing publicly for the first time in my thirties, and I was terrified every time. I needed a song to play before I walked on stage. This became that song. It still is today.
"Step into my purpose. It is up to me."
For the moment you remember your words are creating your world.
This song came from catching myself complaining and realizing how much our words shape the lives we live. I wanted to write uplifting music that parents and kids could hear together, a song that could sneak more love, possibility, and responsibility into the room.
For the moment your alarm goes off and you get to decide who you're going to be today.
I wrote this for Miracle Morning practitioners who wanted more than a routine. They needed a song that reminded them why the morning matters and how one intentional start can change the direction of a day.
For the moment when everything feels heavy and you need one question to bring you back.
It is easy to miss the simple things when life gets loud. I wrote Grateful as a reminder to return to what is already here, what is still good, and what can shift the moment we choose to see it.
The free Grateful Song Guide turns one of J Hobbs’ most empowerment songs into a practice you can use today. It pulls the teaching out of the song and gives you reflection questions, a simple daily activity, and a way to bring gratitude into your real life.
The goal is not just to hear the song. The goal is to embody it. To practice it!
